Prof. Dr. Mustafa GÜLER

Born in Kütahya in 1969, he graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Theology in 1991. He received his doctorate in 1999 from the same university’s Department of Islamic History and Arts with his thesis on “Haramayn Foundations in the Ottoman State in the 16th-17th Centuries.” He became an Assistant Professor in 2002, an Associate Professor in 2008 in the field of Ottoman Civilization and Institutions History, and a Professor in 2014 in the same field. He currently works at Afyon Kocatepe University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Ottoman Civilization and Institutions History.

Güler’s research focuses primarily on the Ottoman State’s services to the Holy Cities (Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem), the administration of Hajj, and the Ottoman Foundation System. He has published four books, numerous articles, and presented papers both domestically and internationally. Mustafa Güler, who speaks Arabic and English fluently, is married and has three children.
