Our faculty, established in 2012 under the name “Faculty of Islamic Sciences,” began admitting students in the 2013–2014 academic year. Our faculty’s name was changed to “Faculty of Theology” by a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette dated 15 September 2023. In our faculty building located on the Ahmet Necdet Sezer Campus, there are a conference hall, a library, seminar rooms, an ebru (paper marbling) and calligraphy workshop, a qirāʾah (Qur’an recitation) workshop, a computer room, a student study room, a cafeteria, and classrooms.

Students of the Faculty of Theology complete one year of a compulsory Arabic preparatory program and four years of undergraduate education. The languages of instruction are Turkish and Arabic. Our graduates have the opportunity to work as Religious Culture and Ethics teachers or as vocational course teachers at Imam Hatip high schools within the Ministry of National Education; and as imam-hatip, muezzin-kayyım, preacher (vāʿiz), or Qur’an course instructor within the Presidency of Religious Affairs. There are also employment opportunities for our graduates in other public institutions.

Through international student exchange programs (Mevlana, Farabi, Erasmus), our students have opportunities to study at different educational institutions both in Turkey and abroad. Our main goal is to educate generations who can access the heritage of the past, interpret the present, and build the future, supported by an academic staff specialized in their fields.
